Dee Odell Leak passed away on May 7, 2018. He was born in Tremonton, Utah on November 12, 1933, son of Gerald (“Jack”) Leonard Leak and Luetta Grace Petersen Leak. Dee was sealed to Glenna Fae Richardson for time and all eternity on November 4, 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Dee was well educated. He attended Weber State and Utah State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He earned his Master’s Degree from University of Utah, and an Education Degree between a Master’s and a Doctorate Degree from Brigham Young University.

Dee worked in education most of his life. He taught at Thatcher Elementary; worked in various positions at Bear River High School, including: Business Teacher, Counselor, Principal, and Vice-Principal. He was Principal at Garland Elementary and North Park Elementary, Counselor at Box Elder High School, and held a position at Box Elder School District Board Office.

He also worked for First Security Bank and Thiokol Corporation in the Awards and Recognition Program where he took many recipients of the Snoopy Award to the launches at Kennedy Space Center. While in the army he served as a Clerk to the Captain in the AAA battalion in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dee enjoyed farming, 4-wheeling around the farm and to his friends’ homes in Thatcher-Penrose and enjoyed many one-day 4-wheeling trips with his family and friends.

He loved reading, basketball, softball, spaghetti westerns, reading to his grandchildren, and when his grandchildren would paint his fingernails, do his hair (including barrettes), and paint his veins on his legs with markers. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He held many callings including: Ward Clerk, Home Teacher, Young Men President, High Priest Group Leader, Bishopric Counselor to various Bishops, High Counselor, Stake Clerk, Ward Mission Leader, Missionary at The Joseph Smith Memorial Building, and Veil Director at the Logan LDS Temple.

Dee is survived by his wife Glenna; daughters: Debborah (Kevin) Bair, Lori (Bruce) Waldron, and Marci (Kirk) Holden; 11 grandkids and 27 great-grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Gerry “Maxine” Thompson, and son Jeffrey Leak. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018.

Viewings will be held on Friday evening, May 11, 2018, 6:00-7:30 p.m. and prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. All services will be held at the Thatcher-Penrose Church (11475 W. 10400 N. Thatcher).
