Delma (Galloway) Chester passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Pete Moore Hospice House in Eugene Oregon. Her soul is free of her cancer-ravished body and is currently gallivanting about the universe, or the beach, where she was happiest. She came into the world the usual way, by accident, on January 19, 1973, the final child of Jay Davis Galloway and Mona Beus Galloway, both deceased.

Delma was preceded in death by her father, Jay D. Galloway; her mother, Mona Beus Galloway;… Read More » her brothers Tom B. Galloway and Robert J. Galloway; and her husband Patrick Chester. She is survived by her daughter, Felicia Merie Chester; fiancé Steve Eckhout and his son Marcus Eckhout of Eugene, OR; siblings William H. Galloway (Holly Noyes) of Gillette, WY; LaDell Fielding Barrus (Guy Barrus) of Basalt, ID; Steven K. Galloway (Rose) of Grouse Creek, UT; Rachel Riles (James B. Riles, Jr., deceased) of Shelley, ID; and Kim S. Galloway (Desirae Aimes) of Idaho Falls, ID; grandchildren Hayden J. Galloway-Young, and Faith Marie Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews. Delma graduated Shelley High school and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Graphics from Idaho State University.

She married Patrick Chester (deceased), July 25, 1998, with whom she shared her daughter Felicia Merie Chester. Although she had a less than average life span, Delma did not live an average life. She frequently explored the countryside, traveled at every opportunity available, laughed inappropriately at every chance, perfected “the look” when someone did something she didn’t approve of, and loved who she wanted to love.

Work always seemed to get in the way of her passion for reading romance novels. She worked hard, partied harder, and was always quick with a snappy comeback. Mae West said it best: “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough”.

So in the end, remember… do your best, follow your dreams, and make something amazing out of your life. Oh, and never stop smiling. Everyone who remembers her is asked to celebrate Delma’s life in their own way.

If she was still with us she would say, “I’ll leave you with this…please don’t cry because I’m gone; instead be happy that I was here”. Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday November 9, 2018 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that each individual takes the time to have their annual cancer screening.
