OBITUARY Delores Ball February 24, 1940 – July 14, 2018 Delores Hughes Ball 1940-2018 Delores was born February 24, 1940 to John and Iva Lee Hughes in Springfield, Illinois. John moved his family to Rowlett Road in Houston, Texas when she was 11 years old. She met the love of her life, Jerry Mack Ball at a circus in South Houston when she was 14 years old.
They married in 1958 and had a whirlwind 53 year romance. Together they raised 7 children and a spare, Jessica Erin Ball. Jessica came into their lives as grandparents and continued to live with Maw Maw until her last day on this earth.
Included in those 7 was her baby brother Johnny Alan Hughes who was thrown into the pile at age 9. Delores was 78 and credited her love for life to the love for her family. Her family was her passion.
A woman of boundless energy and a strong sense of duty who believed immensely in the importance of a safe, secure and healthy home for her family. She worked tirelessly to provide that home. It smelled of fresh baked goods and a pot of soup when you walked in the door from school.
She loved gardening, sewing, decorating and her animals. Brody, her Chorkie will miss his constant companion. “Mom, you have given us so much and asked for so little in return.
Thank you for always being there for us, teaching us, listening to us, helping and forgiving us, always paving the way for us. We will work hard to reach the standard you set. Farewell sweet Mama, you were simply magnificent”.
