Denis Lee Barrington of Parker, CO was born in Chippewa Falls, WI on September 17, 1935 to parents Margaret (Kynsberg) and George Barrington. He grew up in the Milwaukee,WI and Tacoma, WA areas. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, WA in 1953.

After graduation he worked for the Washington State Forestry Division as a fire lookout. Joined the U.S. Navy in 1953. He served on two different ships in the Pacific: DE-442 — USS Ulvert M Moore DD-631 — USS Erben While on leave during the Christmas holiday in 1954, his sister Maggie introduced him to his future wife, Jeanne Smith in Eau Claire, WI.

They married on August 8th, 1959. Denis left active duty in 1957. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on Dec 13, 1961 after serving as a reservist.

They were blessed with three children during the 1960’s. Which also coincides when Jeanne’s dad installed the first in-home air conditioning in St. Michael, MN – where it became the most popular house in town. Life changed again when the family moved to Colorado in 1974 while he was working for G&K Services.

Denis’ sales career was varied but he loved talking with people from all walks of life. He’d been in car sales management for the last 20 years of his career. After retirement Denis and Jeanne moved from Englewood to Parker where they found an amazing group of friends in their new community, which his family is ever grateful for.

They loved to travel — with many trips to Europe, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, the Panama Canal, Mexico, Alaska and trips all over the United States. Denis loved trivia, crossword puzzles, golf, snowmobiling, the Denver Broncos and most importantly — good dessert with two scoops of ice cream. His children are thankful for their extensive vocabularies and ability to beat their friends at Trivial Pursuit because Dad was always reading trivia out loud to us.

Denis is survived by his loving wife Jeanne; Sister Maggie of Solona Beach, CA; Brother Jim of Tooele, UT; Children Maryof Dana Point, CA, Kevin of Parker, CO and Julie of Aurora, CO; Grandchildren Shea, Duncan, Drue and Natalie. He passed at home on February 12, 2019. His service will be 10:30 a.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church at 9056 E Parker Rd.

, Parker, CO 80138 a reception will follow at the church. His interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area “B”, at 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO.
