Denis “Red”‘s Obituary Denis “Red” Thomas Gilles, 67, of Adams, Minnesota, died at his home on Tuesday, April 30, 2019. Red was born on October 9, 1951 in Osage, Iowa to Daniel and Gloria (Creedy) Gilles. He graduated from Adams High School in 1969.

He served as a cook in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1975. After his service in the Navy, he went to culinary school in Rochester. Over the years he cooked at Michael’s Cerise in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, the Hubble House in Mantorville, Minnesota, Harry’s Café in Austin, the Carlton Hotel in Rochester, the Rusty Nail in Taopi and at Bubble’s Café in Adams.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching old movies, playing cards, and shaking dice. Red especially looked forward to fishing with his brothers and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel; sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Richard Greeley.

Red is survived by his mother: Gloria Gilles, Adams, Minnesota; brothers and sisters-in-law: Colin & Connie Gilles, Stewartville, Minnesota; Charles & Linda Gilles, Adams, Minnesota; Clair Gilles, Austin, Minnesota; Robert & Dawn Gilles, Rose Creek, Minnesota; Brian & Chandra Gilles, Adams, Minnesota; sister and brother-in-law: Karen and Pudge Longueville, Austin, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews; and aunt: Gert Gilles, Waterloo, Iowa. A private family interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston.
