Dennis’ Obituary Dennis Lee Roderick, age 51, went home Tuesday morning, December 18, 2018 as the result of an accident. He was born to John Lewis and Lea Gae Roderick on June 17, 1967. Dennis married the love of his life and his best friend Lesley Bates on June 17, 1989.

Shortly after, Dennis and Lesley began their adventure of raising four sons who have grown into men of character, love, kindness, and humor–Joshua Lee, Timothy Dean, Stephen Lewis and Nathaniel Aaron. The family’s hearts were full and their adventures have been expansive. Dennis worked alongside his father for nearly 25 years in the construction field and later obtained his CDL.

He began his next career step by driving truck for Mars Inc., followed by Sutherlin Sanitation Services, which is where he found his favorite job as well as an extended family. Dennis was immensely proud to have served in the U.S. Army, spending most of his time in Germany, where he was stationed at Giebelstadt Army Airfield. Dennis was a lover of life and natural beauty and spent his life awestruck by the beauty of God’s handiwork here in Oregon.

Dennis often described his wife, his children and his grandchildren as the very air that he breathed and was the best Papa any grandchild could ask for. Dennis’ life was filled with music, and he played with numerous groups including praise teams at church. Dennis and Lesley found lifelong relationships while performing at The Grand Victorian under Pamela Shepherd’s direction.

Dennis found his true niche when he joined the Douglas County music scene. His most recent musical passion was fulfilled by playing with Velvet Whiskey and Dan Harmon and the Cascade Country Band. Dennis is survived by his Wife of 29 years Lesley Roderick, his children Joshua and Tabatha Roderick and their children Allyson and Joseph, Timothy and Annelise Roderick and their children Elijah and Ezra, Stephen and Jamie Roderick and their children Corbin and Aubree, and Nathaniel and Sabrina Roderick and their son Jackson.

He is also survived by his Mother Lea Roderick, sister Jonda Lorenson and her husband Bill, brother John Roderick and his wife Melissa. Also surviving are his Mother-in-Law Ronnie Bates, sister-in-law Andrea Miner and her husband Chris, brother-in-law Joseph Bates and numerous nieces, nephews and family by blood and chosen. He was preceded in death by his father John Roderick and brother Gregory Roderick.

The Celebration of Life for Dennis will be held Saturday, December 29, 2:00pm at Winston Community Center. All are welcome to come and honor him.
