On Monday, December 10, 2018, Big D was surrounded by Family and Friends as he made his entrance in to the presence of his Savior. Big D was a giant of a man yet he was the gentlest spirit anyone could ever meet.
He spent his entire life helping others, even when he himself was in need. Big D not only spent the majority of his life working in the oilfield, but the oilfield hands were his family as well. He loved riding motorcycles and was a member of Howe Assembly of God.
Over the years became Uncle Den to numerous kids and loved every one of them with a passion as big as his stature. The most important part of his life was his children and grandchildren. The words Dad and Papa were the most important to him and those roles were what he held with the most sincerity and joy.
Those left to cherish his memories are two sons, Dennis Preston Mattox of Howe, Charley Mattox and Heather of Howe; four grandkids, Kaylee, Kourtney, Cjay, and Caleb Mattox all of Howe; three brothers, Paul Don Mattox and Rita of Talihina, Roger D. Mattox Sr. and Barbra of Poteau, Kenny Mattox and Lana of Poteau; two sisters, Ione Place of Poteau, Pat Hunt and Johnny of Poteau; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. What a joyous reunion it must be to be reunited with Daughter Jessica Mattox and Granddaughter Ashton Mattox. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one brother Carl Preston Mattox and a brother in law Norvel Place.
