Dennis’ Obituary Dennis W. Bumstead, 76, of Stanwood, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital. He was born April 8, 1942, in Lansing, the son of Wilfred P. and Lois M. (Smith) Bumstead. Dennis worked in retail his entire career, and owned and operated Hillside Party and Sports Store in Stanwood.

He had also served for many years as President of the Stanwood Village Council, and supported many community events in the area. In 1964, he married Darlene (Virzi), who survives. Also surviving are one son, Sean (Karen) Bumstead of Clarkston; one daughter, Dawn Rasool of Las Vegas; a granddaughter Bailey Bumstead; three sisters, Melanie (Larry) Eddy, Jane Newmann, and Judy Brayman; one brother, David Bumstead; and several nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of Dennis’ life will take place next summer. Memorial contributions in his name may be made for Morley-Stanwood Public School.
