Dennis Lee Gieson, 69, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 12:23 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019 at his home. He was born December 4, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Kenneth and Wanda (Humphrey) Gieson. He retired from St. Mary’s Health Center in Richmond Heights, Missouri as a registered nurse.

He had a passion of photography and operated Gieson Photography. He had taken photos of the Granite City High School proms and Homecomings for many years. He was a supporter of the National Honor Society and enjoyed working with the Granite City High School Class of 1967 reunion committee.

Dennis enjoyed motorcycle riding and cherished the special times shared with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Gretchen and Joey Estes of Gainesville, Missouri, Sarah and Brian Bufalo of Ballwin, Missouri and Jessica and Robyn Gieson; five grandchildren, Tyelor, Ryelon, Warren, Reese and Bronson; other extended family and friends. In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Charles West officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the family and may be accepted at the funeral home. To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of Dennis Gieson, please visit our Tribute Store.
