Obituary for Derek Brent Crabtree Crabtree, Derek Brent With hearts heavy and broken, we share the loss of our much loved Derek. Born: 5/11/1979 in Dallas, TX Died: 3/10/2018 in Flower Mound, TX Derek grew up in Duncanville, TX and following graduation from Duncanville High School, he attended Rice University in Houston, graduating in 2003. Derek later continued his education, earning his MBA from the McCombs Business School at the University of Texas.

Derek worked as a Web Developer, Project Manager and Team Lead at TXU, USFI, Match.com and One Technologies in Dallas. Derek was a placekicker at Duncanville High School and at Rice University. He still holds the records for accuracy percentage at Rice.

He often happily and fondly talked about his experiences with his teammates and coaches. Derek loved books, video games, theological questions, his bible, sleeping and he dabbled in golf. But, most of all, Derek loved his family, especially his children Claire and Carter, and his wife Teresa.

He was so much more than son, daddy, husband and brother. He was a constant… a rock. He made sure that his family knew that he loved them and he was always available to them.

The certainty of Derek was a comfort to all of us. Derek always tried to do the right thing, even when doing right was painful and difficult. The world was a better place with him in it.

We will miss him so.
