Derek’s Obituary Derek Zeben Carter, 40, of Midway, died Thursday, May 2, 2019 in Louisville, KY. Derek was born February 10, 1979 in Somerset, KY to Sandra Jewell Daugherty Carter of Lawrenceburg and the late Merial Lee Carter. Including his father, Derek was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Johnny and Eldora Daughtery; and his paternal grandparents, Lee Carter and Wilba Walker.

Derek served in the U.S. Army, and worked as an electrician and a landscaper with Hinkle & Denmark in Lexington. Derek enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds, University of Tennessee Football, and University of Louisville Basketball and Football. Including his mother, Derek is survived by two sisters, Emilee Brooke Carter of Lawrenceburg, and Kelli Melissa Carter of Fayetteville, GA; two nieces, Taja Owens of Lawrenceburg, and Gracie Disponett of Frankfort; a nephew, Teryn Carter of Lawrenceburg; and two cousins Alice Stratton and Penny Ball.

Services will be 7:00 P.M., Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Moore officiating. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. till time of service Thursday.
