Devin J. Hrbek, 24, of Belford, passed away Sunday, March 3rd. Devin was raised in Leonardo and graduated from Middletown High School South in 2013. He then moved to Florida where he attended the Marine Mechanic Institute and graduated with honors.

He has worked as a deckhand on many local fishing boats, alongside his father, ever since he was a young boy. Devin loved to fish. He fished for work and he fished for fun.

He had an infectious smile and contagious laugh that spread to everyone around him. He also enjoyed music, going to shows, drawing, spending time with his friends and family, and had a deep love for animals of all kinds. He was especially proud to be the Godfather of his beloved niece, Vannah.

Devin is survived by his father, Robert Hrbek of Belford; his mother, Melanie Hrbek of Pennsylvania; his sister Marissa Hrbek and niece Vannah of North Carolina; his maternal grandmother, Doris Beutel of Lincroft; his Step Grandmother, Helga Britton of Lakewood; and extended family and friends. Devin’s ashes will be scattered at sea, where he loved to be, during a private family service. For anyone who would like to pay their respects, a memorial gathering will be held on Monday, March 11, between 6-8PM at Scott and Kedz Funeral Home at 153 Church St. Belford, NJ.
