OBITUARY Dexter Royal Yager Sr. December 6, 1939 – January 6, 2019 Family, friends and dreamers across the globe bid a heartfelt farewell to business pioneer, Dexter Royal Yager, Sr., who joined our Lord and Savior in Heaven January 6, 2019 at the age of 79. Dexter was born to Leonard and Gertrude Yager December 6, 1939 in Fulton, New York. He married his wife, Birdie, in 1957 at the age of 17.

Together, they raised seven children and moved their family from Rome, NY to Charlotte, NC in 1969. Dexter is survived by his wife, Birdie, of 61 years; their children and spouses, Dexter Jr., Doyle and Holly, April and Michael, Lisa, Jeff and Rhonda, Leanne and Tim, Steven and Cecile; 27 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; his brother, Richard; and sister, Lillian. “Dex” fulfilled his life purpose as a devoted Christian, lover of freedom and country, and a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, business man, entrepreneur and author by sharing his faith and free enterprise principles freely with anyone who would listen….

and millions did. He started many businesses over the years but his first and most successful was his own independent Amway distributorship that he started 54 years ago with his wife Birdie. They were the first to achieve many of the highest levels in the Amway business which spread to more than 80 countries.

The Yager name, philosophies and methods became synonymous with success within the direct selling, multi-level marketing industry. A public celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Steel Creek Church of Charlotte, 1929 W. Arrowood Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Yager Freedom Foundation, which supports youth leadership camps, ministries and other charities.
