OBITUARY Diane Alice Laferriere December 5, 1942 – July 12, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Diane A. (Judd) Laferriere, 75, of Palm Beach Shores, FL, and South Dartmouth, died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, July 12, 2018 in her South Dartmouth residence. She was the beloved wife of Richard W. (“Dick”) Laferriere with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Acushnet, Diane was the daughter of the late Armand W. and Laurette (Despres) Judd of New Bedford.

She lived most of her life in the greater New Bedford area, attending Holy Family High School and Cardinal Cushing College. In more recent years, Diane and her husband made Florida their primary residence until her illness brought her back to Massachusetts. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dartmouth.

Mrs. Laferriere worked many years as a medical secretary for a private internal medicine practice (which ultimately became part of the Southcoast Primary Care network). Her piercing blue eyes and infectious smile were a welcome sight to all the patients she interacted with each day. Anyone who knew Diane could attest to her warm heart, glorious laugh, and genuine interest in all she met.

Diane embodied what it meant to be a dedicated wife, a doting mother of two sons, an adoring grandmother of eight, and a friend to all. She cherished the many journeys she and Dick took to watch her children and grandchildren compete in their many sporting events. When in Florida, Diane loved the beach and relaxing by the pool with her friends.

An avid Patriots fan, she looked forward to every game. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Richard (“Rick”) Laferriere II and his wife, Kelly, of Southport, CT and Robert (“Rob”) Laferriere and his wife, Karen, of Chatham, NJ; two sisters, Louise Sharkey and her husband, Gerard, and Denise Marcelino and her husband, Abel, all of New Bedford. Diane was known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren: Luke, Max, Zoe, Sophie, Alex, Harry, Jack, and Phoebe.

She is also survived by an uncle, Henry Judd and his wife Barbara of Schenectady, NY; sisters-in-law, Donna Belliveau of Dartmouth and Janet Audette-Wagner of New Bedford; and 10 nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Paul Judd. Visitation will be Monday 4-7 pm at the Waring-Sullivan Home in South Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd.

, Dartmouth. Diane’s funeral will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 9 am from the Waring-Sullivan Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
