Collins GA, Diane Higgs, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at her home. The native of Queen, New York moved to West Palm Beach Fl during her youth. It was there that she met who would become her husband, Buford Higgs.

The two wed and embarked on a wonderful life together for 40 years. Diane always wanted to contribute to her family’s well being and she gained employment outside of the home. Working first for RCA for over 9 years.

She, however, found her career passion in working within hospitals. The first being Palm Beach Gardens Hospital where she worked for over 11 years. The family moved back to her husband’s hometown, Collins GA over 35 years ago.

Once in Tattnall County, she began working at the Tattnall County Hospital for 6 years, before ultimately moving to Evans Memorial Hospital for an additional 6 years and retiring after a productive career. Diane was certainly family oriented and loved her children and was blessed to be able to spoil her grandchildren and great grand children. In her free time she loved gardening and flowers in general.

Her family would say that she had no vices, but for her love to dine at the Coleman House in Swainsboro. Diane was a lively soul who touched many lives, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Light House Pentecostal Holiness Church and was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and sons, Buford L. “Buddy” Higgs, Jr. and Dennis E. Higgs.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Courrier of Collins; grandchildren, Ashley Courrier of Glennville and Jonathan Mannon of West Palm, FL; great grandchildren, Layton, Gunnar, and Easton Mannon, Alexis, Trey, and Jaxson Holloway. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00am Friday May 10, 2019 at the Light House Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev.

Greg Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Odom Family Cemetery near Lyons. Pallbearers will be Terry Barnes, Terry McCorkle, Doug Manske, Larry Higgs, Van Johnson, and Robert Jarriel.

Low Country Cremation and Burial is serving the family of Mrs. Diane Higgs.
