OBITUARY Diane Q Mansfield January 21, 1955 – December 27, 2018 Diane Querry Mansfield, age 63, passed away on December 27th, 2018, in Salt Lake City, Utah at home, surrounded by her family. She was born to David and Audrey Querry on January 21st, 1955 in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania. Her parents gave Diane and her brother Brian a family life of fun, adventure and love.
She grew up in the lovely countryside of rural Pennsylvania, riding horses, playing in the woods, sledding, fishing, and hiking. Sundays were filled with church and afternoon drives in the countryside with ice cream stops along the way. Diane graduated from Central High School in Martinsburg in 1972 and Millersville University in 1976, with a BS in Elementary Education.
After serving as a camp director at the Bancroft Camp in Owls Head, Maine and teaching neurologically impaired students in Glassboro, New Jersey, Diane moved to Salt Lake City to achieve a Master’s Degree in Human Re Management and Economics at the University of Utah. In Utah, she met the love of her life, Dennis Burton Mansfield. Despite her lack of skiing skills, they were married within a year, on October 10th, 1980.
Together they raised three wonderful children: Mauri Lynn (Matthew) Dressman of Seattle, Washington; Chase David of Salt Lake City; and Lindy Anne (CJ Jedrziewski) of Salt Lake City. She is survived by 3 grandsons with 2 more on the way, her brother, Brian D. Querry (Kimberly) of State College, Pennsylvania, and two wonderful nieces; a sister in law, Ann Baker of Salt Lake City, Utah; and numerous extended family members and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister.
As a beloved wife and mother, Diane enjoyed the outdoors, creating family adventures, and traveling to beautiful places, especially Hawaii. She was a wonderful host for family gatherings where many happy memories were made. She was known as a gracious, kind, loving and generous host and friend to all those who knew her and she always had time to lend a listening ear with support, wisdom and words of encouragement to anyone who needed it.
She was intelligent and strong and her decision making abilities were highly regarded. Diane cherished her career at Questar Corporation, where she served over 30 years and loved the employees and the many talents they brought every day. She began her career as an intern and retired as Vice President of Human Res.
She attributed her success to the many strong leaders who mentored her along the way. She served as a proud Director of Mountain America Credit Union for 27 years, and enjoyed watching the Credit Union grow and treat employees like the superstars they are. She was a member of: the University of Utah Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees; the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce UBET Committee; Governor’s Committee of People with Disabilities; Women Investing in Service and Health (WISH); and Society for Human Re Management (National and Salt Lake).
In 2010 the Salt Lake Chamber presented Diane with the Pathfinder Award for her support in women and women’s issues. She empowered our community with her support, commitment and volunteer work. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church where she served on the Social Justice Committee and was a member of the Stephen’s Ministry.
She lived her life like every day was a gift and a blessing. Diane and her family are grateful to the wonderful Huntsman Cancer Institute oncology team that guided her and provided her with comfort and friendship over the past 10 years: Dr. Weis; Nicole; Judy; Nancy; and many others. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019, at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Family and friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2018, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 1736 East 3300 South (Highland Drive), Salt Lake City, Utah and at the church, Thursday, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
