OBITUARY Dionicio Valdez October 30, 1935 – September 13, 2018 Dionicio Valdez, age 82, passed away after a lengthy illness on 9-13-2018. He was born on 10-30-35 to the parents of Domingo Valdez & Andrea S. Valdez in Gregory, Texas. He was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He married Irma Nava, the love of his life on 4-30-1961 and they were married for 57 years. He took great pride in playing for Roy Miller High School’s 1954-55 “Battling Bucs” football team where they went to the State semi-finals. He was later inducted into the Hall of Fame.

After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country from 1955-1959. Upon his return, he worked as a fireman for the Corpus Christi Fire Department for 6 years. He then went on to the Corpus Christi Army Depot where he retired in 1992 after 30 years.

Dionicio was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will always be remembered as a man of action and who selflessly provided for his family. He was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.

Preceded in death by his parents, Domingo Valdez and Andrea S. Valdez, brothers Jose, Rodolfo, Domingo Jr., Benjamin Sr. Valdez and sister Manuela V. Alvarez. Survived by wife, Irma Nava Valdez; sons, Leonardo (Leticia), Gilbert (Ann) of Pearland, TX. and Daniel Valdez; daughter, Ninfa V. Figueroa (Andres); sisters, Amelia V. Vazquez (Samuel) and Refugia “Cookie” De Leon, grandchildren Daniel Aaron Valdez, Michael (Raquel) Valdez of Port Orchard, Washington, Marcus Valdez, Demitri Valdez, Adrien & Loren Valdez of Pearland, Texas, sister-in-law’s Amelia Valdez and Alice Valdez.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Cage-Mills Funeral Director’s Chapel with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
