OBITUARY Mrs. Dolores Ann Hammer April 23, 1932 – December 19, 2018 Our precious Mom born on April 23, 1932 departed her physical life on Dec. 19, 2018 to be greeted by our Dad and her loved ones in her life eternal. She was the wife of 54 years to the late Charles (Tack) C. Hammer having married our Dad on July 9, 1948.

She was the second daughter of the late James Newton Collard and Mary Aralee Williams Collard of Dallas. TX. She was the last surviving child of Mary and Newton Collard and the daughter- in- law of the late Grady G. Hammer and James C. Hammer also of Dallas.

We have such great memories of Mom to share for the rest of our lives, we are proudly her daughters, Donna S. Birch and her husband Charlie of Chincoteague, VA. , Nancy H. Buckner and her late husband Ronnie of Hacksneck and Cypress, and Kathy L. Rushing and her husband Rick of Duncanville. Grandsons: Cory Birch and Fletcher Birch (wife Jennifer) Jesse Buckner (wife Meredith), Richie Rushing (wife Lisa) and Ryan Rushing, step granddaughter Beth Thornes (husband John).

Three great- grandsons: Braxson Birch, Rockie Buckner, and Richie Rushing, great grand-daughters: Kenzee Birch, Allie Rushing and Rebekah Rushing, three step great-grand daughters and one step great- grandson, two nieces and six nephews. Mom and Dad spent 21 years on the Eastern Shore of Virginia during our Dad’s career at Wallops Island Flight Facility and after their retirement until Dad’s death in 2002. They made many friends in Virginia and certainly enjoyed the flounder fishing, the beautiful environment and the lifestyle of the shore.

While having a successful career of her own, Mom loved to cook, sew and keep up with the fashion. She was a wonderful cook of her Texas heritage but of all her many talents she was a brilliant and impeccable seamstress. Her sweet hands and brilliant mind could make and tailor anything out of cloth.

She always excited us when she made our clothes and clothes for our children. Her giving and loving ways not only touched our family but lives of many others. She was always willing of give of herself and her many talents.

The moment you met our Mom you were drawn to her inner and outer beauty. We have certainly missed her these past two years with her having to be placed in facilities for her own wellbeing due to her increasing dementia. We thank the Lord she was still able to remember us upon taking her last breath.

As she stated so many times, “I have had a good life and I’m ready to go”. Yes Mom you have, but we will miss your beautiful face, sweet kisses, hugs and sincere voice when you expressed your love for us in every way and in return our love for you is immeasurable and embedded in our hearts forever. A memorial service and visitation will be held at Laurel Land Funeral home in Dallas on Thursday January 24th at noon.

Family and friends are invited to share in the celebration of our Mom’s life and her life well spent. The family request no flowers only your presence.
