Obituary for Don Pruett Pruett, Dr. Don Shelby “Poppie” December 7th, 1934 – September 15th, 2018. Don Shelby Pruett is home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. For eighty-three years, Don focused on what matters-his faith, family, and friends.
He did not get sidetracked with the temporary or trivial. He was practical, sensible, hardworking, and trusted God was in control. He preferred simplicity and kept his word.
Don laughed often and had an ease about him that made others comfortable. He showed genuine interest in people’s well-being. As a result, Don’s relationships were deep and lasting.
His patients speak of his kindness, humility, and willingness to pray with them. Don well knew the power of Christ, and that real healing comes from God. Don was a caring husband, “the best Dad ever”, a beloved “Poppie”, a skilled surgeon, incredible athlete, and a loyal and always supportive friend.
There’s only one Poppie. Don Pruett’s legacy for Jesus will continue in the lives of his wife Myra, children Michelle, Michael and Chris, and his grandchildren; (Pruett’s) Morgan, Graham, Harrison, Caroline, Katharine, Audrey, Peter, (Pottebaum’s) John, Josh, Caleb, Micah, Grace and Esther, (Michael’s daughters) Jade, Paige & Karsen. Please join us for a Memorial Service to be held at John Burroughs High School in Haertter Hall on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at 11:00am, with reception and food to follow.
