Donald J. Bendele KALIDA – Donald J. Bendele, 83 of Kalida died 1:55 a.m. Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the Meadows of Kalida. He was born June 20, 1934 in Ottoville to the late Jerome and Ethel (Rupert) Bendele. On August 22, 1959 he married Yvonne Jacobs, who survives in Kalida.

Also surviving are 5 children: Mary (Terence) Malosh of Toledo, Mark (Janice) Bendele of Kalida, Lynn (Dan) Horstman of Ottoville, David (Beth) Bendele of Scott Air Force Base, IL and Brent (Angie) Bendele of Logan; 2 brothers: Dennis (Judy) Bendele of Kalida and Robert (Melanie) Bendele of Lima; sister: Joan Schimmoeller of Kalida; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren with 1 on-the-way. He is preceded in death by a 2 brothers-in-law: Robert Schimmoeller and George Jacobs Donald retired as the manager from Carter Plumbing Electric and Heating, Columbus Grove. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Donald was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida and was a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Kalida Fish and Game, the Knights of Columbus, Kalida, the Putnam County Historical Society, the American Legion, Continental and the Ottawa Eagles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township.

There will be a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. and a rosary service at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Michael’s Catholic Church or to the Putnam County Historical Society.
