Donald’s Obituary FERGLE, Donald John; of Clarkston formerly of Grosse Pointe Woods and St. Clair Shores, passed away March 20, 2019; age 87; preceded in death by his high school sweetheart, Evelyn. Loving father of Donald Jay (Laura) Fergle of Rochester Hills, and Ronald John (Nancy Gross) Fergle of Minneapolis, MN, and grandsons Matthew, Daniel, and Elliot. Don was born July 27, 1931 in Oak Park, Illinois, and graduated from J. Sterling Morton High School and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago in 1953 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

After graduation, Don accepted a position with the Packard Automotive Company in Detroit and in 1960 took a position with the Eaton Corporation in Southfield where he designed six patents related to early airbag design, diesel trucks, and hybrid vehicles. Upon retirement in 2000 as a Project Manager, he joined Alion Corporation at the U.S. Army TACOM in Warren as a contract engineer until 2009. He was a lifetime member of SAE, Sokol (Czech heritage) Detroit, the Engineering Society of Detroit and was a member of the Grosse Pointe Congregational Church since 1961.

In 2005 he received an honorary lifetime membership in the Miami University Alumni Association as he had been an active member of the Southeast Michigan alumni chapter since the mid-1970s. He was an avid photographer, CNC machine hobbyist and enjoyed volunteering at Oakland County Animal Shelter in honor of his beloved cocker spaniels, Chipper and Buffy. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, March 25, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. Noon until time of Service at 2:00 p.m. at the Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home, Clarkston.

Interment immediately following at Ottawa Park Cemetery. Memorials may be to Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center, the Grosse Pointe Congregational Church, or the Friends of Bohemian National Cemetery. Please leave a memory or condolence on www.
