Obituary for DONALD LACEY OGLESBY Donald Lacey Oglesby, age 81, of Hueytown, Al. , passed away October 1, 2018. Donald was born on December 8, 1936 in Boothton, Alabama to Clarence and Lorene Oglesby.

Donald graduated from Bessemer High School in 1956. He joined the Air Force immediately after high school as an airplane mechanic. He always had lots of great stories about his years in the service.

Upon discharge in 1960 he met his future wife Peggy Payne on a blind date. They were married on September 7, 1962, and were married over 56 years. Donald started his working career in 1960 at Nashville Bridge.

After leaving Nashville Bridge he went to work with Woodward Iron. After their closing in 1971 he took a job with Southern Natural Gas, where he retired in 1994. Donald was a longtime member of Concord Baptist Church.

He was one of the first volunteers to form the Concord Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed spending his time helping others in the community, and also loved to spend his spare time hunting and fishing. Some of his favorite stories were about his time spent at the hunting club with his sons and hunting buddies.

He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Lorene Oglesby, and his brother Jerome Oglesby. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Peggy Oglesby; sons Gary Oglesby (Melissa), and David Oglesby (Becky); grandchildren Will, Jacob, Katie, and Hunter Oglesby.

The visitation will be October 3, 2018, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
