Donald “Pug” Sarachine, 86, of Kittanning, died Thursday, January 03, 2019 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born May 9, 1932 in Kittanning to the late Dominic and Dorothy (Frassinelli) Sarachine, and lived in the area all of his life. He was a proud graduate of Kittanning High School, class of 1950.

He retired from Eljer in 1994 after 44 years of service. Mr. Sarachine was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Kittanning, participating in the funeral choir. He belonged to the Kittanning JayCees, Kittanning Lions Club, Knights of Columbus Council #1011, Elks Lodge #203, as well as volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul.

His grandchildren were his pride and joy. If there was any sporting event, you would find ‘Poppy’ there in the crowd to support and cheer them on. He was always volunteering his time and talents to anyone that asked or where he saw a need.

A faithful catholic, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who had a generous heart, easy laugh, and a steadfast devotion to his family. Left behind to cherish his memory includes his wife of 66 years, JoAnne Sarachine; children, Michael (Kim) Sarachine, Cherie (Joe) Sacco, Candy (Alan) Decock, Susan (Allan) Generotti, and Greg (Joanne) Sarachine; grandchildren, Nick (Christina) Sarachine, Mari Jo Klingensmith, Philip Sarachine, Michelle (Matt) Lutz, Andrew Sacco, Chris (Louise) Decock, Drew (Dan) Zerick, Anthony (Samantha) Generotti, Jonathan Generotti, Alayna Generotti, Dom Sarachine, Jacob Sarachine, and Gio Sarachine; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Sarachine; and sister, Delores Ondo.

Visiting hours are to be announced. Parting Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Douglas E. Dorula officiating.

Interment will follow in Kittanning Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Donald’s honor to St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 348 N. Water St., Kittanning, Pa 16201.
