Doreen Bovet, 47, Wausau, died Monday, March 25, 2019. She was born August 25, 1971 in Frankfurt Oder, Germany, daughter of the late Klaus-Peter and Eveline (Kuchta) Keck. Doreen survived a traumatic upbringing in East Germany and with her grandpa Opa Kuchta’s help, studied in Cottbus to earn her Abitur (college degree) in computer programming.

After the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, she traveled west to study nursing at Haus auf dem Wimberg nursing home where she worked for over a decade. During the summer of 2000, she met Philip where he interned at that nursing home. They married in 2001 and moved to the USA to live in Antigo.

There she worked as a CNA at Evergreen Terrace, then in Madison at Meriter Hospital and then Des Moines, IA where she worked at Methodist Hospital during which time they created their beautiful daughter Philine in 2004. They moved to Marshfield for Philip’s residency training and Doreen stayed home to raise Philine and support her husband’s career, which brought them to Wausau in 2008. They divorced in 2011 yet continued to co-parent Philine.

Doreen loved her “baby bear” and helped out as much as she could at Philine’s swim and track meets throughout the years. She enjoyed listening to Natalie Merchant, Queen and Roxy music and took Philine to see Adele and Katy Perry in concert. Doreen enjoyed watching Gone With The Wind and, like Scarlett O’Hara, she survived as long as she could.

Survivors include, her daughter, Philine Scarlett Gail Bovet, Wausau; her ex-husband, Philip (Shelly) Bovet, Wausau; one brother, Matthias (Daniella) Keck and their three children, Germany; her former father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Gail Bovet, Antigo; and her dear friends, Maike Becker, Katrin (Volka) Miethe and Katrina (Corey) Clark. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her friend, Regina Becker. Burial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.

Rev. Jenifer Dahle will officiate. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
