Obituary for Doris “Alene” Sims Doris “Alene” Sims, age 83, of Clarkson, Ky, passed away Tuesday (December 4, 2018) at her home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born on October 2, 1935 at home in Tar Hill, the daughter of the late Charlie and Rosetta Milliner. She was a housewife who had a passion for cooking and gardening.
She enjoyed cooking “Sunday dinners” for her family, reading, birdwatching, watching soap operas and listening to bluegrass music on KET. What she enjoyed most, however, was time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Cindy Washington of Plano, TX, Martha Glutting of Elizabethtown, KY, Robin Embry (Tony) of Leitchfield, KY and one son, Greg Sims (Brenda) of Leitchfield, KY.
; five grandchildren, Cari Johnson (Luke), Bret Glutting (Anna), Katie Embry and Kelsey Embry of Leitchfield, KY, Blake Washington of Plano, TX; two step grandchildren, Brandon Petty of Big Clifty and Morgan Petty of Louisville, KY. ; four great grandchildren, Caden and Colin Johnson and Cali and Abel Glutting; one step great grandchild Cambrie Adkins; a special family friend Linda Howard of Elizabethtown, KY, one sister, Edna Drake of St. Paul, two brothers, Lloyd Milliner of Big Clifty and Kenny Milliner of St. Paul and several nieces and nephews also survive. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Sims and four brothers, Edsel, Adolph, Franklin and Ambrose Milliner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday (December 7th 2018) at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., Friday at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Home in Leitchfield.
