Doris Geneva Strong, 95, Goshen, and formerly of Twelve Mile, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Waterford Crossing in Goshen. Born September 10, 1923, in Macy, Indiana, she was the daughter of Homer William Ward and June Susan Murphy Ward. On Easter Sunday, March 28, 1948, at the home of her parents, she was married to Loyd Bruce Strong, and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2012.

She graduated from Deedsville High School in 1941 and then attended Logansport Business College. Doris was a member of the Metea Baptist Church. She loved to garden, sharing her flowers and vegetables with family, friends, and neighbors.

She loved nature and was a caretaker of God’s creatures, feeding the local wildlife that visited her home west of Twelve Mile. Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Ann Hug and husband Lyman, Goshen; two grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Menczynski and husband Chet, Goshen; Lisa Marie Reyes and husband Max, Elkhart; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Reyes, Kayla Menczynski, and Sarah Menczynski; three step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Clark, and husband Doug, Sturgis, Michigan; Kimberly Gilbert and husband Tracy, Waterboro, Maine; and Kristene Miller and husband Mark, Newburgh; seven step great-grandchildren, William, Sarah, and Carolyn Clark, Grace Gilbert, and Kayli, Joe, and Michele Miller; and one step great-great grandchild, Kellan Leisure. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one sister, Lois Birk.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at McClain Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Foreman officiating. Burial will follow in Chili Community Cemetery, Chili, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m. on Friday, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, at the funeral home.
