Doris Lee Nickell, known by those she loved as “Tootie”, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 in Tulsa Oklahoma. Tootie was born on June, 22, 1929 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Conrad and Pearly (Maertz) Franke. Tootie graduated from Okmulgee High School and later married Elwood Nickell on December 30, 1946 in Okmulgee and were members of the Grand Avenue Church of Christ.

She worked as a waitress and finally Ball Brothers Glass Plant before her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, walking and back in her younger days she loved water skiing and playing basketball. Tootie is preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Pearly Franke, husband, Elwood Nickell, son, Jerry Lee Nickell, Sr., and a brother Willard Franke.

She is survived by her son, Monroe Nickell of Papillion, Nebraska, grandchildren, Mike Nickell and wife Gaylynn of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Ange Nickell of Jenks, Oklahoma and Jerry Lee Nickell, Jr. of Oklahoma, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Grand Avenue Church of Christ in Okmulgee with Mr. Kevin Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery.

Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 from 1 P.M. till 8 P.M. with the family present for visitation from 5 P.M. till 7 P.M. Memorial contributions can be made in Tootie’s name to Saint Simeon’s Memory Care Center of Tulsa. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
