Doris Moore Long 1921-2019 Doris Long, a resident of Highlands since 1977, passed away peacefully May, 9, 2019, in the superb care of the cardiac staff at Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC. . Born in Orange, New Jersey, to parents Bertha S. and Otis R. Moore, Doris attended Beaver College and Parson’s School of Design.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and, in Highlands, was an active member of the Highlands Cashiers Hospital Auxillary, the Sapphire Chapter of the American Needlepoint Council,. and the United Methodist Church. Doris was predeceased by husbands, George Victor Kearse, Jr., Harry E Long and Louis Hixon Smith, Jr..

She is survived by a sister, Shirley M Shipston of Worthington, Ohio; son, Mark R. Kearse (Lynda) of Casa Grande, Arizona; daughter, Cheryl K. Combs (Floyd) of Clemson, SC; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Anne Smith Conte (Chet); granddaughter, Jo-Elle K. Wade of Holly Hill, Florida; niece, Judith S. Keener (Joe) of Worthington, Ohio; and nephew, Richard Shipston of Belleview, Florida. Per her request, no funeral or memorial services will be held. Bryant Grant Funeral Home, of Franklin, NC, is handling her interment.
