Doris P. Olsen April 1, 1930 – July 18, 2018 Doris Marva Pedersen Olsen, age 88, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at The Ridge at Cottonwood. She was born in Salt Lake City, UT on April 1, 1930 to Martin Harris Pedersen and Gertrude Annette Tanner and grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Granite High School and then served an LDS mission in the Great Lake Mission.

She met Gerald Boyd Olsen and married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 26, 1952. It was a special occasion because her mother and father joined with them and were sealed for time and all eternity. They were blessed with 4 devoted children, and a large, loving family.

She is finally reunited with her sweetheart, Gerald Boyd Olsen, who passed away May 14, 1993. Survived by children Rodney (Jeri) Olsen, Sheryl (Dave) McGlochlin, Sheila (Brent) Agnew, Judy (James) Clemans as well as 23 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Janet (Pedersen) Krantz. Doris was an accomplished seamstress and worked as a Manager of The Fabric Shop for more than 30 years.

She enjoyed reading and loved the scriptures, finishing the Book of Mormon once again a month or so prior to her passing. She was an amazing cook and was well known for her delicious potato rolls with strawberry freezer jam, yummy potatoes and cheesecake for a crowd. She had a green thumb and knack for keeping houseplants alive and enjoyed planting flowers and weeding her small garden.

She was committed to serving others, always willing to make a meal or dessert or offering a meal or shelter to individuals in need. She loved spending time playing games and working on puzzles with her family and friends. She had a knack for memorizing funny little poems and recited them often to her kids and grandkids.

She actively engaged with childhood friends whom she met with each month for “Club”. She was also an integral part for many years for planning her annual missionary reunions. Doris was always busy sewing clothes for her kids and later grandkids, doing alterations or tying quilts for others and enjoyed her monthly “girls out” lunches with her friends.

She enjoyed walks with her friends and family and taking drives in the mountains to reminisce of childhood memories or special times with her husband. Doris was active in her LDS faith and served in various callings throughout the years. In 1966 she and Boyd moved their family to Golden, Colorado where they resided for 11 years.

She made many long and lasting friendships during that time. In 1977, the family returned to Salt Lake City to be closer to family. They purchased their home in the Cottonwood Heights area where she has been a member of the Brighton 5th Ward for 41 years.

The Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Brighton 5th Ward, 2301 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.), Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Viewing is from 5:30 – 6:45 PM with the service beginning at 7:00 PM.

All are invited to commune with family immediately following the funeral service. The Interment will be at Memorial Holladay Cemetery on Thursday, July 26th at 10:00 AM.
