Doris May Hoyes March 24, 1922 – December 24, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Doris M Hoyes RN of Killeen, TX formerly of Blakely, PA passed away December 24, 2018. She was born March 24, 1922 in Olyphant, PA to the late Clarence and Lydia Hoyes. She graduated from St Joseph’s School of Nursing in 1943 and passed her state boards on November 1, 1943 when she was able to proudly declare she was a Registered Nurse.

Miss Hoyes went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in 1964 and her Master of Science Degree in 1968. Doris served as a School Nurse for many years where she enjoyed taking care of the students of the Valley View School District. She was a member of the Blakely Primitive Methodist Church where she enjoyed going with her dad for many years.

She loved spending time with family and recently enjoyed her travels to the beach at South Padre, TX. Miss Hoyes was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Clarence and Lydia Hoyes and her older brother Clarence W Hoyes. She is survived by her niece Janet L DiPalma RN (husband David), nephews Garry W Hoyes (wife Angela), and James C Hoyes.

She also leaves behind 5 precious great nieces and nephews Jennifer, Kristine, Tammy, Geoffrey and Ryan and their families. Great great nieces and nephews Kylee, Taylor, Cody, Ashlee, Devin and Riley brought much joy and happiness to her life. A private service and burial were held in Killeen, TX.

The family respectfully requests any memorials be sent to Blakely Primitive Methodist Church or St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
