Wadesboro – Mrs. Doris Sings Ricketts, 81, slipped away peacefully from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Thursday afternoon, May 2, 2019. A Celebration of Life service for Doris will be held at 4:00PM Sunday, May 5th in Mt Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Storz officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church on Sunday beginning at 2:30PM. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths. – Proverbs 3:5-6 Born in Anson County on August 21, 1937, Doris was a daughter of the late William Eben Sings and Cora McRorie Sings. Her father died young at age 44 and her mother remarried Mr. Vernon Myers who lovingly helped raise Doris and her siblings.

Doris graduated local public schools and worked a number of years at Roses Dime Store and later became a faithful employee of the Parsons~Bias Drug Store from which she retired. She was also a long-time faithful member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, B.J. Ricketts of the home; six children, Sharon Ricketts of Wadesboro, Barry (Beth) Ricketts of Southern Pines, Dennis (Jacqueline) Ricketts of Wadesboro, Judy (Chris) Sellers of Cheraw, SC, Connie Kiker of Polkton, and Tony (Wendy) Ricketts of Wadesboro; 13 grandchildren, Chuck Williamson, Ben (Hannah) Soileau, Brittany Soileau, Callie (Greg) Huneycutt, Michael Ricketts, Dylan Ricketts, Jake Ricketts, Kristy Vouigt, Courtney Sellers, Spencer Sellers, Brett (Kailey) Kiker, McKayla Ricketts, and Trace Ricketts; and 1 great-grandchild, Charley Williamson. Also surviving is one brother, Wink (Rachel) Myers of Wadesboro. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her son-in-law, David Kiker and her siblings, William Earl Sings, Vera Sings Bonz, Augusta Pegram, Betty Polson, Ina Snipes, James Myers, Vada Treadaway, and Tee Hathaway.

The family suggests memorials be made to Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, 3373 Country Club Rd. , Wadesboro, NC 28170.
