Dorothy A. Anderson, age 84, of Hesperia, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart. She was born March 31, 1934 in Muskegon, the daughter of Forest and Elizabeth Anne (Tollenaar) Deater. Dorothy lived most of her life in the Hesperia area.

She married Roy E. Anderson on November 8, 1952. He passed away August 21, 1991. She was a “room mother” at Hesperia Elementary School for eighteen years and drove school bus for twenty years.

Dorothy was a member of Ferry United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Hesperia American Legion Auxiliary and the Hesperia VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed “Supper Club” at Daniels Restaurant every Monday night with forty other ladies for many years.

Dorothy also served as the Greenwood Township Clerk for four years. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Hugh) Conley, Elizabeth (Jim) Johnson, Micheal (Theresa) Anderson, Arlene (Steve) Kolbe and Roy Jay (Lynne) Anderson; her brother, Thomas (Val) Deater; sister-in-law, Marilyn Deater; brother-in-law, Dale Thebo; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Irene and John Leisenring; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, James Deater, sister-in-law, Louise Thebo, granddaughter, Erica Conley and great-grandson, Chase Curtice.

Visitation is Friday, October 26th, from 4-7 pm and Saturday, October 27th, 10 am with the funeral service to follow at 11 am at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby with Pastor Norman Stark officiating. Interment will be in Clark Cemetery near Fremont. Memorials to the Hesperia American Legion Auxilary Medical Scholarship are appreciated.
