Obituary for Dorothy A. “Dot” Jay (Williams) Dorothy A. “Dot” Jay, 80, of Everett, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018, with family by her side. She was born Tuesday, October 30th, 1938 at her family home in Monroe Township, a daughter of the late Henry Williams and Vera (Burkett) Williams. On November 14th, 1956 at the Clearville United Methodist Church Parsonage, she married Eldon F. Jay, who survives along with their sons, Barry E. Jay and wife Lisa (Guyer) Jay of New Enterprise, Bob Jay and wife Mary (Beegle) Jay of Everett, Four grandchildren, Lacy Ann Decker and husband Andrew Decker of Everett, Marcy Smith and husband Justin Smith of Hopewell, Jenna Imler and husband Wesley Imler of Everett, Mandy Jo Mcvey and husband Josh Mcvey of Everett, Six great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Jack, Wyatt, Parker, Bella and Lincoln, Two sisters, Linda Hedrick and husband Roger Hedrick of Everett, Helen Brallier of Clearville, A sister-in-law Lentha Jay of Everett, A brother-in-law Lesley Snyder of Breezewood, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing away by an infant sister, a great-granddaughter Chloe Ramsey, a sister Mary Alice Snyder, a brother Eddie Williams and his wife Joan ” Skip” Williams, and brothers-in-law Ray Jay and Jim Brallier. Mrs. Jay was a lifelong member of Stevens Chapel United Methodist Church and also attended Tatesville United Methodist Church. A member of Everett Southern Joint High School Class of 1957, Dot first worked as a clerk at the G.C. Murphy Store in Everett, later working at the R.L. Sipes Locker Plant and Buchannan Lumber in Everett, Guyer’s True Value hardware store in New Enterprise, the Shoppers Guide in Everett and retired after working at the Blackburn-Russell Company in Bedford.
A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, Dot was a fine homemaker who loved to cook and was an excellent pie baker who would do anything for her family. She was especially fond of car racing, especially watching her son Bobby race at the Bedford Speedway and other local tracks, and was quite ambitious, having learned to play the dulcimer and Autoharp in her later years. A truly loving and compassion woman, Dot enjoyed the company of her pet cats throughout the years, and will be remembered for her willingness to help, her kindness, and the love she shared with so many.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8th, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Jay Saxe, Pastor Jim Cutchall and Pastor Debbie Decker officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Saturday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.
