Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for years, under the shepherding of Samuel N. Winston, Sr., until she became too elderly to physically attend. Dorothy’s hobbies were music, fishing, dancing, traveling and her passion was cooking for her family. She so loved her family from her heart.

She never had children of her own, but she raised and nurtured her niece, Jencie M. Atwater, the daughter of her sister Mary, as her very own. Dorothy had so much love and compassion to give she tended to her sister Doris’s children, giving them love and guidance and support as an aunt/grandmother, encouraging them to love each other. Her compassion for nurturing care led to her becoming a foster care parent for Children Services in 1983.

This gave her a full commitment of motherhood and love.
