After a life lived fully and joyfully, Dorothy died peacefully and with her family on March 2, 2019 in Ludington, Michigan Born in her beloved Shelby, Michigan on March 17, 1923, Dorothy graduated from Central Michigan University where she met her husband, Al Juterbock. While a Navy wife during WWll and an Army wife during the Korean conflict, she taught school for a short time. Dorothy and Al had their first two children (their son Barry died at birth) while Al attended Michigan State University.

After graduation the family of three lived in Joliet , Illinois (having Steve)and then Ludington, Michigan (having Rebecca)where Al worked as a Boy Scout executive. In addition to being mother of three, Dorothy was also cook, driver and master of whatever was needed to a lot of young men in the Scouts! Al entered Presbyterian seminary the day their youngest child was born.

For decades, Dorothy excelled at her various roles; she was an exceptional wife, an outstanding mother and an extraordinary minister’s wife. Over the years she cooked for hundreds of people in church camp and for wedding receptions, continuing this labor of love well into her her 80’s! She created a life for her husband and children that was full of love, beauty, books, fantastic food and, always, fresh flowers.

Preceded in death by parents, Mae and Jackson Barritt, husband, Dr. A.R. Juterbock, and children, Barry, Deborah and Susan, Dorothy is survived by Steve (Diane) Juterbock of Michigan, Rebecca (Mike Malone) Juterbock of New Mexico and Leslie (John Carnahan) Yoder of Minnesota. Grandchildren, Chris (Amy) Juterbock, Anne (Norm) Rericha and Kyle (Michelle Myers) Malone, Alex (Holly) Magner, Ben (Abbey) Kerl and Charles Kerl. Great grandchildren: Christian & Abby, Nora, Maya & Max, Jasper & Juniper, Aurora, Lucia and Hugo.

In honor of our much-loved and dearly-missed Mom we ask that you (if able) please plant a flower in her memory during the coming spring or summer. A memorial service will be held the summer of 2019, date to be determined. Memorials can be sent to Shelby Library Friends, 189 N Maple Street, Shelby, MI 49455 in Dorothy’s name.
