Dorothy’s Obituary Dorothy E. Rottermond of McKinney, Texas, passed away on February 16, 2019. She was born on July 28, 1923, in Kinde, Michigan, the daughter of the late Joseph (Bert) and Jessie (nee Maxwell) Ayotte. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. Rottermond, after 55 years of marriage; her sisters Eileen Sturm, Marguerite (Peg) Grabowski, and June Kelterborn; her brother John (Jack) Ayotte, and many other relatives and friends.

Loving mother of David (Linda) Rottermond and Mark (Ann Marie) Rottermond; beloved grandmother of Jon (Ericka), Matthew (Michelle), Alicia and Laurita Rottermond; and beloved great-grandmother of Tyler, Austin, Caleb, and Jordan Rottermond. Dorothy grew up in Pigeon, Michigan. After graduating from Pigeon High School, she moved with her family to Detroit.

There, she worked in the offices of Cadillac Motor Car Company. At that time, she was also an avid roller-skater and enjoyed many a night at the rink. On a double date with her sister, Peg, she met her future husband, Clarence.

They were married on October 26, 1946, after he returned from military duty overseas. While raising a family, Dorothy worked at National Artcraft in Detroit and then Sure-Fit Metal Products in Livonia, Michigan. She was active at Guardian Lutheran Church in Dearborn, Michigan, where she made many life-long friends.

Family get-togethers for both sides of the family were important to Dorothy, and they were always complete with plenty of food, cheer, and music. Many family vacations took place at either Camp Dearborn or on Jekyll Island, off the coast of Georgia. In retirement, Dorothy lived in Novi and Farmington Hills, Michigan, where she was active in senior groups and bowling leagues.

In 2014, she moved to Texas to be closer to her son, David, and daughter-in-law, Linda, who are both retired. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at the Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Avenue, Farmington, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a memorial contribution to the charity of your choice.
