Obituary for Dorothy Hojnacki (Buchacek) Dorothy H. Hojnacki, 90, Mosinee, died Monday, May 14, 2018, at Copperleaf Assisted Living, Marathon City, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born on Nov. 1, 1927, in Wausau, the daughter of the late Joseph and Hilda (Mess) Buchacek.
She married Leo “Pat” Hojnacki on Nov. 18, 1946 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. He preceded her in death on Sept.
3, 2007. Dorothy attended St. Paul Catholic grade school and graduated from Mosinee High School. She performed in the ice capades at Dessert Park.
Dorothy was employed at Bob’s Bakery and the Princess Café in Mosinee, where she met Leo. Later she waitressed at the Antlers Supper Club and then at the Central WI Airport Restaurant. She loved Big Band Music and attended many Polka dances, enjoying dancing with the love of her life “Pat”.
Her hobbies were reading, cooking, spending time with her family and going to rummage sales with her daughter. Dorothy and Pat took trips to Hawaii, Nashville, Florida, Las Vegas, Canada, Illinois, Boston, France and Italy. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies auxiliary in Mosinee.
Survivors include her three daughters, Sharon (Louis) Oertel, Wausau, Sally (William) Trubee, Stratford, and Mary Kramer, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Vicky (James) Wozniczka, Wausau, Chris (Dee) Oertel, Mosinee, Eric (Beckee) Trubee, and Elliot Trubee, Marshfield; eight great-grandchildren, Joshua (Michelle) Wozniczka, Cody Wozniczka, Kyle and Nicole Oertel, Britney Taggart, Aubryn, Landen and Kallyn Trubee; a sister, Beverly (Gabby) Rheinschmidt, Mosinee; many nieces and nephews; and her very special friend, Len Filiatreaux. They had many happy days together and held her hand when she passed away. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Ford; brother-in-law, Ray Ford; and granddaughter, Erin Trubee.
A Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2018, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.
