Dorothy’s Obituary Dorothy J. Evangelist, 83, of Nisswa, passed away at her home on Monday, January 21, 2019. Dorothy was born April 26, 1935 in Richfield, MN, the daughter of Carl and Esther Johnson. She married David Evangelist in 1956 and started their family.

In 1973, the moved their family to the Brainerd Lakes Area. The couple had entrepreneurial hearts and invested their time and energy in multiple small business including a resort, liquor store, restaurant, and retail store. Dorothy was never shied away from hard work and always made time for the things she loved: her children, boating, traveling, and sharing a glass of wine with loved ones while the sun kissed her beautiful face.

Her ability to accept others without judgement was above and beyond. She never said a negative word about anyone. Above all, Dorothy loved her family.

Spending time with her children and enjoying life is what made her happy. She will be missed by many and is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Forsman, Deborah (Louis) Nordby, and Jennifer (Conrad) Voels; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her cherished friend, Linda Juneau; and her faithful furry friend, Itty-Bitty. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; son, Joseph Evangelist; son-in-law, Robert Forsman; and sisters, Ruth Miranda and MaryAnn Johnson.
