Dorothy Jean Wiswell, 95 of Shelby, MI, passed away peacefully on May 12th, 2018. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday May 18th, 2018. Services will follow at 2:00 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby, MI.

Graveside services to immediately follow at Mt Hope Cemetery, in Shelby Michigan. Luncheon to be held at Congregational Church, 51 East Third St, Shelby MI. Dorothy was born January 26, 1923 in Hart, Michigan to the late Zenas & Bernice (Waters) Morningstar.

Dorothy married Robert Wiswell April 14th, 1946. Dorothy and Robert traveled extensively with their 3 boys during Roberts Air Force career. Residing in Panama, Japan, Labrador and several other stations within the United States.

Prior to marring Robert, Dorothy graduated from the State College of Beauty Culture in Grand Rapids on October 21st, 1940 at the age of 17. Dorothy was the Manager of the 1940 Class C champion Lady Tiger’s basketball team. She enjoyed dancing with her sister Beatrice (Morningstar) Beckman.

Dorothy enjoyed sewing, quilting, crochet, knitting and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Always had an amazing smile and unforgettable laugh.

She is proceeded in death by her Husband Robert Wallace Wiswell, Mother & Father Zenas & Beatrice (Waters) Morningstar, Sister Beatrice Beckman, & Granddaughter Jacqueline Wiswell. Survivors include: Sons – Eric (Marilyn) Wiswell, David Wiswell, Mark Wiswell; Sister-in-Law Wilma Loughmiller; Grandchildren – Kim (Wiswell) Williams, Nicole Wiswell, Philip G(Amber) Wiswell and Tracie (Chris) Vroman, 8 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Shelby Public Library, 189 N. Maple Street, Shelby, MI 49455 .
