Dorothy Louise Pandolfi July 20, 1923 – February 12, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Dorothy Louise Pandolfi nee Goode was born in Denton, Texas on July 20, 1923. She passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. She will be buried next to her husband, Tony Pandolfi, at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.

Dorothy graduated from Denton High School in 1940 and from Texas State College for Women (now Texas Woman’s University) in 1943. At TSCW, she earned a B.S. in Library Science and a B.A. in English. In 1944, Dorothy met Tony Pandolfi, an aviation cadet at Victory Field near Vernon, Texas.

They married on September 14, 1946, when Tony returned from serving as an Army Air Force pilot in the Pacific during WWII. They had five children, Nancy Louise Hadfield nee Pandolfi, Jennifer Ann Pandolfi, Jane Elizabeth Bondi nee Pandolfi, John Anthony Pandolfi, and Peter George Pandolfi – all of whom survive. In addition, they had five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dorothy began her career as a librarian at an early age when she volunteered to shelve books at her junior high and high school libraries. After graduating from TSCW, she was the librarian at Vernon High School from 1943-1946. Dorothy was a reference librarian at Mississippi State from 1946 to 1949 while her husband was a student there.

In 1965 she helped to establish the St. Charles City/County library. From 1966 until her retirement in 1988, she was the librarian at Hardin Middle School in St. Charles, Mo. she was one of the original organizers of the St. Charles City/County Book Fair in 1987, volunteering for many years at the annual sale.

Until recently, Dorothy was a member of two book groups, four bridge clubs, a knitting group, Missouri Retired Teachers, St. Charles Retired Teachers, Friends of the Library, the Ethical Society of St. Louis, and the American Association of University Women.
