Obituary for Dorothy May Thrower Dorothy May Thrower was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 26, 1930 to the union of Lafayette and Nancy Cox. Dorothy May Thrower married Harold Alexander Throwher Sr. September 26, 1947. To this union 11 children were born.

As a mother, she shouldered the responsibility of raising her children, teaching them to love, to be honest and to respect one another as well as others. Dorothy May May Thrower coupled her ambitions with the study of God’s word the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. From which she symbolized her dedication to Jehovah through water baptism on June 14, 1957.

For 61 years her zeal for Jehovah did not waver. In her later years, she enjoyed sitting in on various Bible studies, talking about Jehovah, Jesus Christ, the resurrection hope and the New World in paradise. Dorothy May Thrower endured her vision impaired illness for approximately 11 years.

This did not deter her from living her life the way she wanted. She resided in the Altgeld Gardens Community for 64 years. She was known by all to be kind, generous and compassionate.

The family wanted her to move, but she refused, she wanted to maintain her apartment. She wanted her last days to be in her home where she spent her happy years. Dorothy May Thrower was preceded in death by her son Michael, and her husband Harold Alexander Thrower Sr. Dorothy May Thrower leaves to cherish her memory, 2 sisters Irene Hill and Freda Harris; 1 brother Odell Cox; 10 children Doramil Thrower, Iris Terry Washington (John), Harold Alexander Jr. (Deborah), Derwin Thrower (Dorothy), Shawn Thrower (Laurie), Lance Thrower (Lolita), Harolette Thrower, Genean Thrower, Dawn Thrower and April Thrower (Robert); extended family, Mildred Thrower, Kevin Thrower, Gaynell Watley and Theresa Hall; 33 grandchildren, 42 great-great grandchildren, 12 great-great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
