Dorothy Sweeney, July 24, 1925 — May 10, 2019

Dorothy Sweeney (nee Brown) of National Park, NJ, passed away on May 10, 2019 at the age of 93 years. Beloved wife of the late Thomas B. Sweeney. Loving mother of Michael Thomas Sweeney (Martha) of Woodbury, NJ and Sharon Dickerson of Egg Harbor Township.

Proud grandmother of the late John Dickerson, Kelsey Dickerson, Kerri Dickerson, and Grace Sweeney; and great-grandmother of Madison Marie Dickerson. Dear sister of the late William Brown, the late Margaret McShay, Hank Brown (Esther), and Robert Brown (Ann). She is also survived by her nieces Dolores McShay and Diane McShay, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Dottie will be remembered for her sweet, quiet spirit. Married for fifty-five years to the love of her life, she and Tom were truly inseparable. She was quick to whisper an encouraging word to help you through your day.

If by some chance you missed what she said, she would remind you again because “sometimes things are worth repeating”. Her stories about growing up with her family in Philadelphia will live on. She cherished each one of her family members and kept them close to her heart.

Dottie’s strong will and spirit defied all medical opinion for the last twenty years. Though in the last few months her body began to decline, her mind remained sharp. She will be greatly missed, but we are assured she is resting joyfully in the arms of her beloved Savior.
