Dorthea “Dottie” Faye Holmes August 05, 1946 – March 05, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Dorthea “Dottie” Faye Holmes, 72, of Benton, passed away at 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5 at BJC Siteman Center in St. Louis, MO. Dorthea was born on August 5, 1946 at Blytheville, Arkansas the daughter of Paul and Mary Eberin Holland. She had many names to all that loved her.

She was Dodie, Dot, Dottie, DF, MoMo, Mama Deet, and most importantly Mom. She loved to cook and put a smile on everyone’s face. If she had a house full of people to cook for she was one happy lady.

She was a homemaker, a baker, and an Avon lady. She loved to be loved. She was also a member of the Sunfield United Methodist Church.

She married James Daniel Holmes on June 29, 1985 at the Sunfield Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of Benton, five sons – John Kearbey and wife Misty of Du Quoin, Lance Kearbey and wife Ivonne of Gallatin, Tennessee, Jarrod Kearbey and partner Jon McAtee of Marion, Clint Kearbey and wife Lea of Maryville, Jason Holmes and wife Megan of Christopher. Two Daughters – Amanda Holmes and partner Alan Mydler of Tamaroa, Julie Littlefair and husband Keith of Benton.

8 grandchildren, Coleton Kearbey of Du Quoin, Erica Kearbey of Gallatin, TN, Megan Kearbey and partner Hector Gonzalez of Gallatin, TN. Kaya Sloman and Avery Kearbey of Chatham, Jimmy Nease and Delilah Holmes of Christopher, and Silas Littlefair of Benton. Two great-grandchildren, Olive and Kamden Gonzalez of Gallatin, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister – Paula Ann Arceneaux. Funeral services will be at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Sunfield United Methodist Church in Sunfield with Rev. Bill Wiggs officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 1:30 P.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin. Friends may make memorials to the Sunfield United Methodist Church Building Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
