Obituary for Mrs. Dorthie Fay Jimerson JIMERSON, Mrs. Dorthie Fay – Age 73, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at Medilodge of Grand Blanc. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, May 26, 2018 at True Light Missionary Baptist Church, 6917 M.L. King Ave. , with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM Rev.

Dr. Christopher Davis officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Mt.

Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Saturday. Mrs. Jimerson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday.

Mrs. Dorthie Fay Jimerson was born December 21, 1944 in Crittenden County, Arkansas, the daughter of L.E. Chambers and James Chambers. She was known as Fay to family and childhood friends. 1963, Dorthie graduated from Wonder High School where she sang in the Choir and was a member of The National Honor Society.

She moved to Flint, Michigan where she was employed by Flint Boxmakers for over 20 years where she made lots of longtime friends. Dorthie worked numerous other jobs ending with The Flint Board of Education where she remained until her health caused her to retire. In 1964, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Burnice Jimerson and from the union her only child, Jerone was born.

Dorthie joined True Light Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Marcellus Burkett and sang in the Adult Choir for many years until her health prevented her from attending. Mrs. Dorthie Fay Jimerson leave to cherish her memory: son, Jerone A. Jimerson; granddaughter, Samaria L. Waites, both of Flint; mother, Mrs. L.E. Chambers of West Memphis, AR; 8 sisters, Ivory (Jimmy) Miller, Frances Jefferson, Mary (Randal) Hill, Carolyn (Hurlee) Palmer, Deborah Burton, Allie (Tommy) Taylor, Melvia (Rickey) McCauley and Sharon Stallings; 7 brothers, Tommy (Valerie) Eason, Robert (Gayle) Eason, Charles (Juanita) Eason, Roy (Ella) Eason, Glenn (Mildred) Eason, Gary (Zettie) Stallings and Charles (Loretta) Stallings; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Ruth Glover, Jacqueline Shooks-Dunn, Carla Gill and Ted Watson.

Mrs. Jimerson was preceded in death by her fathers, James Chambers and Freddie Eason; brothers, Willie “Buddy” Chambers and Freddie “Toy” Eason Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Jacqueline Shooks-Dunn for the love and care that was given to Dorthie.
