Douglas M. Clemons, age 72, of Ashville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 10,2019. He was born in Vulcan, WV to the late Durward and Ruby Clemons. He graduated from Matewan High School in 1964, and learned the “three R’s of education” – reading, writing, and route 23 north to Columbus, Ohio where he settled down and began his family.

He began his work at the Westinghouse factory, and then went to the electric company (now known as AEP) where he retired in 2001 as the instructor for substation maintenance. He spent a lot of his spare time performing automotive services in his garage to help his family and friends, and opened and operated a used car dealership after he retired. Doug had a great love and commitment to God and his family, and his life backed up his beliefs.

He would share his knowledge and experiences with anyone to try to help them have a relationship with God. He enjoyed helping others as a way of life by giving financially, physically, or simply words of wisdom. He was a faithful member of the TurnPoint Apostolic Church for over fifty years, and served in many capacities including being a trustee and a deacon for over 35 years.

He was a devoted husband of 54 years to his wife Mae (Hopson), and made many wonderful memories with his children and grandchildren. Survived by his wife, Mae and 4 sons, Doug (Robbin), Robert (Melissa), Mark (Beth) and David (Jennifer); 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; special niece Shelia Johnston; his brothers Gene (Tina) and Roger (Sandy), and his sister Barbara (Roger) Blankenship; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 6-9 pm at TurnPoint Apostolic Church 7718 Groveport Rd.
