Douglas Bruce Hayes, age 60, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Friday, November 30, 2018, in Little Rock. The son of Bruce and Pauline Austin Hayes, he was born on November 6, 1958 in Burlington. Doug graduated from Wapello High School in 1977 and attended Des Moines Technical School, studying mechanics.

While in high school he enjoyed band and wrestling. Doug had worked as a mechanic on trucks. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hiking, bicycling, and camping.

He was an Eagle Scout and had been a longtime church attendee. He loved tinkering. His family includes two daughters, Elizabeth Hayes of Iowa City and Kathleen Hayes & Cheston Rechenberger of Morning Sun; a granddaughter, Camille; four siblings, Howard Hayes of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kay Adkisson of Roseville, Illinois, William Hayes of Springdale, Arkansas, and Cheryl Enger of Wever.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brad; and a brother, Harold. Following cremation, there will be a gathering with visitation from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Thursday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello followed by a funeral ceremony at 7:00 PM officiated by Pastor Dan Doolin. A Memorial Fund has been established.
