Douglas Lloyd Skifton, Sr., age 70, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born November 22, 1947 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Lloyd and Gertrude Fayne Hurley Skifton. On March 14, 1979 he married Jacqueline Hill in Las Vegas.

In November of 1984 they were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple. Douglas grew up in Minnesota. He went to Kemper Military Prep School at the young age of twelve.

While in his teens, both his parents died from illness, leaving him without any siblings or parents. After graduating from Prep School, he attended college in Minnesota, then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to work in the Gaming Industry. There he was introduced to the LDS Church and later to his wife, Jackie.

They raised their family in Las Vegas. Douglas was a very generous, likable person. This served him well in his business as a financial planner.

These traits also served him well in his church service. He loved teaching others about the Gospel, and sharing the joy that it brought into his life. He loved geography, traveling and making friends.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie of Las Vegas, NV; two sons and three daughters: Anjala Johnson; Lisa (Heath) both of Las Vegas; Doug Jr. (Eva) of Budapest, Hungary; Richard (Ashley) of Idaho Falls, ID; Michelle of Las Vegas and fifteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant brother. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Alexander Ward Chapel, 4575 N. Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89108.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Bunker’s Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.
