Douglas Randal Byars November 14, 1940 – January 24, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Douglas Randal Byars, age 78, a Warren County, TN resident and native was born November 14, 1940 and passed away January 24, 2019 in NHC Rehabilitation of McMinnville following an extended illness. He was a member of the National Guard, retired employee of Century Electric of 34 years and retired from the Warren County Schools Transportation System. Mr. Byars was a member of the Church of Christ at East End and son of the late Alvie and Delma Smith Byars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Larry Byars in 2010. He was married September 3, 1960 to Clara Potter Byars who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children and spouses, Phyllis and Gary Prater of McMinnville, Gina and Joel Hausler of Beech Grove and Roger and Crystal Byars of McMinnville; three grandchildren, Tyler and Brittany Herriman and Katelyn and Kassidy Byars all of McMinnville; three great-grandchildren, Tylee, Briley and Taylan Herriman; two step-grandchildren, Brandi Prater of Woodbury and Travis and Meredith Prater of Murfreesboro; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dwain and Barbara Byars of Florida and Bobby and Debbie Byars of Arkansas.

Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2019 in High’s Chapel with Kevin Key and Garland Robinson to officiate. Interment will follow in Smyrna Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and 9:00 a.m. Sunday until the time of service at High’s. Memorial contributions may be made to WSOJ Radio Station c/o the Church of Christ at East End or Smyrna Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.
