BYROM, Dr. David Gene, 78, of Bayport, LI, died on July 10, 2018. He was the deeply loved husband of Dr. Patricia Dowds and the loving father of David (JoAna), Eric (Amy) and Lisa Johnson and loving step-father of Danielle (Steven) Flaumenhaft. He was a very proud grandfather of six and great-grandfather of three.

Dr. Byrom worked for over 40 years as a clinical psychologist, in both private and community practice on Long Island. He was a practitioner, teacher, and supervisor, in many community mental health agencies, hospitals, community-based antipoverty programs and community action programs. He was a social-justice advocate fighting to achieve affordable quality health care for all.

He volunteered on many Boards, again giving generously of himself to the welfare of others. He will be greatly missed. There will be a memorial service on Saturday July 14, 2018 at 11 am at the Sayville Congregational United Church of Christ at 131 Middle Road in Sayville.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be given in David’s name to Universal Health Care Action Network (UHCAN www. uhcan.org).
