He was born September 17, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Thomas Lawrence Brooks and LaVetta Allen Brooks. He loved his older brother and looked forward to the day he could meet his baby sister who died in infancy.

Don served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints to the Eastern States, loving his time serving at the Hill Cumorah. He loved sharing the gospel and taught for a time as a seminary teacher to the youth. The gospel became a big part of his life as he truly lived it.

He attended the University of Utah and graduated from Brigham Young University and Loyola University School of Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Salt Lake City and San Francisco, California. He served on the medical staff of LDS Hospital for 38 years and was a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry.

He often provided his service to those who others wouldn’t and to those who didn’t have the means to repay.
